We finally left the campsite and our first stop was at Daytona Beach.
So in Daytona Beach you can park your vehicle right on the beach. And it has been this way for many years. So behind all these people sunbathing their vehicles are parked. The hard packed sand made Daytona Beach a mecca for motorsports with the old Daytona Beach Race Course having hosted races here on the beach for over 50 years. This course was replaced in 1959 by the Daytona International Speedway
And then the famous Daytona Beach Boardwalk with restaurants and places for people to fish. This is one of the best known sites in Daytona Beach
And a nice park area to relax under the trees..
Our next stop was the Daytona International Speedway. It was such an impressive place.
We were able to go and sit in the bleachers and imagine the race in our minds....the sound must be deafening during a race
And we are on our way again, making slow tracks towards the Florida Keys..
