We were sad to leave New Orleans...We really had a great campsite pretty close to town...This was the view from our campsite..

On our way out of town we finally saw the newer areas of town, the roads were better, but not great.  We saw quite a few newer subdivisions where we suspect some people were wanting to build on higher ground in hopes that their homes would be safe...
For the next several hours, we drove through marshy areas on viaducts...they went everywhere..

Once we left this area, we spent the next several hours driving towards Houston, nothing much to see except cows and the odd quail farm or elk farm.  Once in Houston, this is what we saw for a very long time...far too long...rush hour traffic...ug!!!

I think we were both glad to get out of this traffic on our way to San Antonio.  We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and were looking forward to getting to our campsite  after a very, very long drive...until we pulled in...Let`s say the website for the campsite looked good....but it ended there. After a quick drive-thru  we decided we were safer sleeping at a truck-stop or in a Walmart parking lot, it was  the worst thing we had ever seen.  So we drove until almost 11:30 and finally found a truck-stop outside of town to lay our weary heads....
