First stop for the day was in a small town called Edenton. Walked around the downtown for a while, very small but cute. The waterfront was very unusual in that there were trees all over, in the water...the water just seemed to be everywhere..even where it didn't look like it should be..
And fishermen everywhere, if there was water, they were there...
This tree was just begging to be climbed...I just couldn't resist...
And a Pomegranate tree, they weren't ready for the picking yet, but it was tempting...
The tree was in a garden in Cupola House which was built in 1758...this was very typical all through this area...beautiful old homes every street you walked down.
And this is the Roanoke Lighthouse, in commission from 1887 to 1941 , and is believed to be the last example of a rectangular lighthouse in the USA. It was restored and moved to its final resting place last year.
And for the first time in our lives, we saw cotton fields...miles and miles of cotton, we just had to stop and pick some...
After a great day of sightseeing, found our spot for the night at Carolina Beach State Park, and managed to get set up just before dark...not totally sure what the campsite looked like, or where anything was, but one thing for sure...we were still in Eastern US, because the cicada bugs here are so loud...
You gotta listen to these bugs, we have been hearing them for a couple of weeks through many states...we have never heard anything like this before, it is deafening sometimes
