Still lots of farming and of course for this time of year...pumpkins...
Our first stop for the day was only about an hour down the road. Another great seaside town and pretty busy for a Sunday morning...The fog was still around, but it wasn't too bad...
This was the first time we had seen any large amounts of seals...they were pretty noisy..
There were lots of cute little shops and restaurants.....nice planter boxes and gardens...
We moved on and stopped in Cambria to check out the "Scarecrow Festival".
There were hundreds of scarecrows around town...
Some scarecrows scarier than others....
I love this guys sense of humour...
Then it was time to move on and back to the beautiful ocean views...
We stopped to view the elephant seals, there were hundreds of them sunbathing, swimming and just being darn cute...September thru November the younger seals gather on the beaches and prepare for adulthood by resting, fasting and sparring...
They would spray themselves with sand, not sure if that was to cool themselves off or get rid of the bugs...
This guy was a little frisky......
Then it was back on the road to drive the "Big Sur"....it should actually be renamed "White Knuckle"....especially pulling a trailer...George found it an....entertaining challenge....I found it a challenge in how long I could hold my breath......
It's great there are quite a few places to pull over and enjoy the view...even with a trailer...
I was glad there were places to pull over because for George it's hard to enjoy the view driving and for me it's hard to enjoy the view being a back-seat driver, white knuckling it all the way....I would be surprised I wasn't turning blue from holding my breath...and I look over and George is as calm as can be....
The views were amazing...
Around every corner, up every hill, there was a new and amazing view...
We arrived in Monterey with no idea where we were going to park the trailer for the night when we happened upon a campsite overlooking "Laguna Seca Raceway" in Salinas California...amazing views once again...but this time, there were no crazy cliffs to worry about...
Then the ocean fog rolled in again by evening...hopefully it will be gone by morning...
