We survived our night in the truck stop parking lot...a bit noisy which made for an early morning....so grabbed a coffee and got an early start on our way to El Paso, Texas...Scenery is changing from the flat, ranch land to a more desert type landscape

Here was a really unusual tree we discovered at a Rest Area..Osage Orange - or also called "hedge apple, the squirrels apparently love the seeds inside the fruit.
Most of the towns we passed were pretty small,  just a few gas stations, the odd restaurant, and a combination of some not-so-bad homes to some not-so-good homes...
As we got closer to the Mexico Border we started to make a big climb up the pass at Sierra Blanca, and we watched this train climbing the pass ever so slowly...neither of us had ever seen a train on a climb like that, it was just crawling up that hill, the tracks a zig-zag up the mountain, crazy...

Our drive through El Paso was pretty quick, much too large of a city to make a quick stop with the trailer....so enjoyed the city only in passing...
Our destination for the day was Las Cruces, New Mexico.  We really started to notice the houses change to the adobe style and lots of Pecan Farms in the area. Found our RV spot for the night and enjoyed a much cooler evening, no need for the air conditioner and the humidity is very low here...so different from the high humidity on the East Coast.
