Left the campsite off the hillside of the Laguna Seca Raceway....crazy grade from the campsite down to the main road...
Drove the "17 Mile Drive" in Monterey. It started a little foggy but soon cleared...This place in particular looks nice, but if this could be a "scratch and sniff picture"......OMG!!! you would be running....It was the worst smell ever....we think it may be the accumulation of seaweed...not really sure, but it was so so so bad......
It was a beautiful drive, the map they give you when you pay the $9.75 to drive on the "17 Mile Drive" gives you certain places of interest to stop....So being the "good tourists"...we did just that...This was called "Restless Sea" and it's easy to understand why...it was so unpredictable, waves coming in from everywhere...
This guy didn't think it was too "restless" to play in the waves on his paddleboard...
We made many stops, this one at "Seal Rock" to see the sea lions and harbour seals, this looks like just a rock, but it is covered with the seals and sea lions, it was so loud...
Beautiful views of the ocean on the drive....a much cooler day than we would like, but it wasn't too bad...I have gone from shorts to capris....but we know the jeans are next...
The colours of the groundcover this time of year is gorgeous against the blue of the ocean...
And the craggy ol' cypress trees are an interesting contrast to the ocean...
This lone Cypress on the right of the picture is California's most enduring landmark and has stood on this rock for over 250 years. This icon is the living symbol of Pebble Beach Company...
There are so many gorgeous views...
Then it was off to Pebble Beach Golf Course...I think I know why they call it "Pebble Beach"...listen to this one...
We finished off the day at the ocean. There is always lots to see in the ocean waters...
We spotted a really happy sea otter...he rolled and rolled and rolled in the water the entire time while eating something he had found..
We had heard the seals and sea lions from a distance and they were everywhere...
We had a great day in Monterey, sunny skies once the fog disappeared, the temperature was a little cooler than we are used to, but we are adapting...slowly...
can't wait to see you guys and hear first hand your travel tails. hugs xo
